Q. What is your appointment policy?
Once we decide to work together, your appointment time(s) will be consistently held for you. In order to be effective, therapy needs to take place on a regular basis. The best results occur when appointments are consistently scheduled and regularly attended. In the event you need to miss a scheduled appointment it is preferable to reschedule than to cancel. In either event I would appreciate as much advance notification as possible (several days or a week would be best).
Late Cancellation Policy
o With less than 48 hours notice will be charged a cancellation fee at the price of the therapy hour
I understand that on rare occasions emergencies do occur, as they do for me as well. In these circumstances I will do my best to reschedule the appointment for an alternate time that week. I also offer sessions via Skype if necessary.
You can leave a voice mail message for me at any time of day or night at 917-573-3027. In case of a psychiatric or medical emergency, please call 911 or go to your local Emergency Room.
Q. What if, after our consultation, I decide to see a different therapist?
That’s okay, I won’t take it personally! In fact, I encourage you to shop around—you’re investing in something very important and a good fit is essential. Sometimes, one meeting is not enough, and it takes two or three sessions to know for sure. If you decide that I’m not the right therapist for you, I’m happy to help you find someone else, and can provide you with referrals.
Also, if I think that another therapist—or a different type of therapy—would be more helpful to you, I will refer you to someone I trust and respect who would be a better fit for your needs. It’s important to me that you find the therapeutic relationship that will be most useful to you, even if it isn’t with me.
Q. What if I choose to end therapy?
There are many reasons to end therapy. When you are ready to leave, I would like to help you leave me well. In order to initiate a productive departure process, I request that you give me advanced notice. An advance notice of several weeks, and for longer-term clients, several months. No matter the circumstance, I will do my best to facilitate the process in a way that feels beneficial to you.
